The Center for Education and Research in Construction (CERC) is the locus of research, scholarship, and discovery at the UW’s Department of Construction Management (CM). While the CM department has a rich history of connecting with industry through research and education, the Center was formalized in 2009 with the opening of our Sand Point facility and the inauguration of The Pacific Northwest Center for Construction Research and Education (PNCCRE). Then, in January 2015 the PNCCRE was renamed the Center for Education and Research in Construction (CERC).
CERC’s Leadership and Operation Team is responsible for the development and implementation of the Center to meet the needs of the CM faculty, students, and the Center’s many industry partners. The current makeup of the team is:
- Dr. Giovanni Migliaccio, CERC Executive Director, Chair & Professor in the Department of Construction Management
- Dr. Ken-Yu Lin, CERC Associate Director & Associate Professor in the Department of Construction Management
- Mr. Adam Fox, CERC Program Operations Specialist
The Sandpoint facility features 25,000 square feet of space on two levels, providing a unique home for research and training in several areas including Virtual Construction, Methods and Materials, and Construction Education.
