Certificate Programs

Developed in partnership with the College of Built Environments, UW Professional and Continuing Education offers a variety of certificate programs.  Taught by industry professionals and CM faculty, certificate programs are not part of a degree program, but are designed for working professionals who seek continuing education, those interested in exploring the field, or professionals in a related field who would benefit from a background in CM. Prospective graduate students who lack the educational and professional background to enter the graduate program also benefit from the CM certificate program. Current options are listed below. Questions may be sent to the PCE office, info@pce.uw.edu

Building Information Modeling  (BIM) Certificate

Starting in Fall 2015, our Center for Education and Research in Construction (CERC) and Skanska teamed up in order to develop a uniquely focused, applied Building Information Modeling (BIM) skills certificate course. Students will leave this course with tangible BIM software skills and an understanding of work processes, as well as enough industry context to decide why and how to leverage these capabilities. The blended delivery approach allows the course to be as accessible for working professionals to attend, including those outside the Seattle area.

This three-hour, weekly course is being offered twice each year in Fall and Spring. Unlike other CM Certificate offerings, this new evening course is offered directly through CERC (not UW PCE) and will be held at the CERC Sandpoint facility as well as online to remote locations. The course is held Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 – 6:00 pm (PST). Registration for this course is open several months prior to each offering. Register directly at the website. Please note that this is a self-sustaining effort and scholarships are not available. However, current UW College of Built Environment students, as well as current Skanska employees, are eligible for a considerable discount. Please contact CERC for this discount code or with other registration questions.  Course fee is $1600 plus $65 registration fee. See the course outline and other information about the BIM Certificate.
