2C: Solving Critical Construction and Design Errors: A tale of water and fire (1.5 LU)

In this session, Professor Saeed Daniali will present on two Heavy Civil projects that focus on finding solutions to critical construction and design errors. The first presentation describes a failure analysis of a port extension project in Texas that had to grapple with serious engineering, construction, and construction management errors. The second presentation concerns the performance of concrete beam, column, and wall structures when exposed to fire. These presentations will show the importance of the designer and contractor relationship and the need for evidence-based solutions for heavy civil problems.

Professor Saeed Daniali received his doctoral degree in Structural-Mechanic from University of Technology and Science of Lily, France, His Master of Science degree from Strasbourg School of Engineering, Strasbourg, France, and his Civil Engineering degree from Tehran Polytechnic, Tehran, Iran.

He is expert in Marine Construction, Heavy Civil structures, and Forensic Engineering.  Dr. Daniali conducted research in the field of Fiber Reinforced Composites.  He is a License Professional Engineers in States of Washington and Texas.
