INTEGRATION, COLLABORATION, YADA, YADA, YADA … DOES ANY OF THIS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

5/15/2015, 8:15 AM – 9:15 AM, Construction Owners Association of America 2015 (Baltimore, MD)

Speaker(s): Bryan Steverson, GSA; Carrie Sturts Dossick, University of Washington

Integrated processes and collaborative teaming seem like good common-sense practices, but do they really make a difference in ensuring projects perform as intended?  For GSA, the answer is a resounding YES!  GSA has been working with the Universities of Minnesota and Washington to study three recently-completed GSA projects (all are LEED Platinum) and examine how they used integrated and collaborative practices to deliver high-performance buildings on time and on budget.  In addition, GSA looked at how the project teams were incentivized, how the contracts were structured, and how building performance was verified post-delivery. This session will present the research findings and share best practices developed from those findings.
