A CAD/BIM Support Technician is responsible for assisting Detailing, Field Personnel and Project Management in creating presentation drawings, design drawings, construction drawings and project documents. These documents represent the concepts and details of several disciplines including sheet metal, plumbing, and piping. The CAD/BIM Support Technician works from sketches, models, written and verbal information supplied by sales personnel, designers, engineers and detailers to determine the most appropriate views, details, and supplementary information needed to complete projects. Assignments regularly require the use of mathematical calculations and research involving precedents, manufacturers’ catalogs, and technical guides. A CAD/BIM Support Technician resolves most problems with moderate supervision. A supervisor or design originator may suggest methods of approach or provide advice on difficult problems. A CAD/BIM Support Technician runs copies and plots of working drawings as required. S/he also assists with other miscellaneous support tasks when assigned. The CAD/BIM Support Technician reports to the BIM General Foreman.

The following is an example of daily tasks that the CAD/BIM Support Technician will likely be required to complete:
Project setup:
Create 2D and 3D production drawing files.
Create Grids and Datum’s.
Scrub ARCH, STRC and Mechanical engineering drawings.
Set up Shop/Fabrication drawings.

Department administrative support (software-hardware):
User set up and support for AutoCAD, REVIT, Bluebeam, MS-Office products.
Set up and maintenance support for user PC’s and workstations.
Create and maintain plot files, hyperlinked and bookmarked PDF files.
Produce and distribute paper plots/sheets.

Revit tasks include but not limited to:
Create or modify Revit Families.
Set up or maintain project views and worksets.
Assist detailers/engineers in modeling/annotating of design projects.
Export content into PDF format (BlueBeam) for plotting.

Competent understanding and ability to work proficiently in AutoCAD and REVIT.
Ability to successfully create an accurate 3D model from 2D submittal sheets.
Self-sufficient in Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Fluent in advanced 3D geometry creation and manipulation.
Have firm mathematical, mechanical and conceptual capacity and solid spatial aptitude.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated and exercise objective-based work philosophy.
Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere.
Ability to adapt to flexible responsibilities.
Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines.
History of good employment attendance.

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:
Coordinate the movement of your eyes, hands or fingers.
Ability to see and hear well (either naturally or with correction; no color blindness).
Speak clearly.
Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Constant computer screen use.
Must be capable of working extended hour days when job/business needs demand.
