Project Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with project architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Responsible for generating Request for Information (RFI) and submittals.
  • Manage project subcontractors including coordination, procurement of materials and equipment, monitoring budget and cost, manage billings, etc.
  • Act as the “information hub” for project to office, including field personnel and design team members to ensure continuity of work.
  • Offer technical information to project supervisor to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare and execute subcontracts and subcontractor change orders including time extensions. May prepare and execute owner change orders.
  • Primary responsibility to monitor and track project quality control metrics and activities on a regular basis. Provide timely and accurate quality reports and raise issues to PM or Superintendent as appropriate.
  • Inspect all work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintains critical project logs (submittal, change order, etc.).
  • Establish and communicate performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, and conducting on-the-job training of project engineers and interns.
  • May be responsible for managing project schedule with the project Superintendent.

Project Engineer Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of a four-year degree program in engineering or construction management.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years previous experience working for a General Contractor or similar.
  • Full knowledge of computer software, i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with Project Management software, Bluebeam and CM applications are a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of LEAN and BIM techniques.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
