Trinity | ERD, a building enclosure consulting firm, is currently seeking an experienced Field Inspector/Technician/Testing Professional. Our work relates to exterior building design, from below grade to roof tops. We have a fast-paced work environment with opportunities for advancement and education.

Duties of this position include:

On-site project observations are conducted regularly to determine installer’s adherence to design detail and/or published product manufacturer’s installation recommendations. Additionally, this position requires the ability to recognize any potential constructability or installations issues that might require modification to typical installation design. Daily duties based on the project requirements include climbing ladders, stairs or scaffolding as provided to perform visual inspections of existing conditions, current installations, to determine further building envelope requirements.

On site observations will also include, at times, detailed forensic investigation and analysis of failed or defective construction.  Use of moisture meters, probes, calipers and other hand held tools is required for this position.

Experience with Infra-Red, Wind Uplift Chamber, Air Barrier Testing, and Window Testing not required, but a plus.  This testing will be included in further education if not currently known.

Perform weekly project field observations of the following:

  • Below grade waterproofing
  • Below slab vapor barriers and pipe penetrations
  • Observation prior to installation of Shotcrete walls
  • Observation of building cladding; Vinyl siding, stucco, EIFS, masonry
  • Observation of window applications – installation and inspections
  • Observation of roofing components – before, during and after roofing applications
  • Produce field notes on site, and in the office
  • Photograph all conditions observed during above mentioned inspections
  • Coordinate contractual issues
  • Direct workers to perform repairs when non-conformance occurs
  • Draft Construction Field Directives
  • Draft Professional Service Agreements
  • Draft Scopes of Work
  • Minimal direction to administrative personnel

Educational Requirement:

Degree in Construction Management or related experience a plus.  Commercial Building Inspector Certification, Registered Roof Observer Certification or related with 3-5 years experience required; working knowledge of building material and products; working knowledge of current codes and standards; working knowledge of waterproofing; exterior cladding; building envelope components is a plus.
